Cookie Policy
1. Introduction and Scope
This Cookie Policy explains how EntryLog and its subdomains (entrylog.eu, app.entrylog.eu, pass.entrylog.eu) use cookies and similar technologies to store information on your device.
Key point: EntryLog does not set non-essential cookies. All storage on EntryLog surfaces is strictly necessary for security and service operation.
This policy applies to both the EntryLog app (app.entrylog.eu) and the EntryLog landing page (entrylog.eu).
2. Storage on the EntryLog App (app.entrylog.eu)
2.1 localStorage (Not Cookies)
The EntryLog app stores the following data in your browser's localStorage, which is not a cookie:
| Item | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication token | Keeps you logged in to your Account | Strictly necessary (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive) |
| UI locale preference | Remembers your language choice (EN/CS) | Strictly necessary (user preference) |
localStorage is not a "cookie" under the ePrivacy Directive because it does not have the same lifespan or transmission characteristics as HTTP cookies. It is retained until you clear your browser data manually or log out.
2.2 Cookies Set by the App
The EntryLog app does not set any cookies of its own.
2.3 Third-Party Cookies: Cloudflare Turnstile
On the login and registration pages (app.entrylog.eu/login and app.entrylog.eu/register), the platform uses Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection and account security. Turnstile may set cookies or use similar tracking technologies on your device.
| Service | Cookies | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Yes | CAPTCHA security, bot detection | Strictly necessary (security exempt under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive) |
Cloudflare Turnstile cookies are strictly necessary for the security of your Account and are exempt from requiring consent under the ePrivacy Directive and Czech Act No. 127/2005 Coll. § 89.
For details on Cloudflare Turnstile's privacy practices, see Cloudflare's privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
2.4 sessionStorage
The EntryLog app may use browser sessionStorage for temporary session metadata (e.g., real-time connection state, temporary UI state). sessionStorage is cleared when you close your browser tab or log out.
3. Storage on the EntryLog Landing Page (entrylog.eu)
3.1 Cookies Set by the Landing Page
As of April 2026 (following implementation of ROADMAP § 2.12), the EntryLog landing page does not set any cookies of its own.
The previous Mailchimp JavaScript embed, which set non-essential cookies, has been replaced with a first-party HTML form that POSTs server-side to the Mailchimp API. Mailchimp now operates as a server-to-server sub-processor and sets no cookies on the landing page.
3.2 Umami Cloud Analytics
The landing page uses Umami Cloud for cookieless web analytics. Umami does not set cookies and does not require consent.
| Service | Cookies | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Umami Cloud | No | Cookieless analytics (page views, referrers, device info) | Exempt from consent (EDPB/CNIL guidance on cookieless analytics) |
Umami Cloud is cookieless and collects analytics data that cannot be traced back to an individual without additional information. Under EDPB guidance and CNIL (French data protection authority) recommendations, cookieless analytics are not considered "cookies" under the ePrivacy Directive and do not require consent.
For details on Umami Cloud's privacy practices, see their privacy documentation at umami.is.
3.3 Mailchimp Newsletter Signup
The landing page offers a newsletter signup form managed entirely by a first-party HTML form that sends data to the EntryLog backend, which then calls the Mailchimp API server-to-server. No Mailchimp JavaScript is loaded on the page. Mailchimp sets no cookies on the landing page.
4. Classification of Storage: Strictly Necessary vs. Non-Essential
Under the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC) and Czech Act No. 127/2005 Coll., storage technologies are classified as follows:
4.1 Strictly Necessary Storage
Strictly necessary storage does not require user consent:
| Storage | Location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication token (localStorage) | app.entrylog.eu | Keeping you logged in |
| Locale preference (localStorage) | app.entrylog.eu | Remembering language choice |
| Cloudflare Turnstile cookies | app.entrylog.eu/login, app.entrylog.eu/register | Account security and CAPTCHA verification |
| sessionStorage (temporary) | app.entrylog.eu | Temporary session state |
All of these are necessary for the Service to function or to protect your Account security.
4.2 Non-Essential Storage
EntryLog does not set non-essential cookies or tracking pixels. There is no targeting or marketing pixel on either surface.
5. Why No Consent Banner is Required
Because EntryLog uses only strictly necessary storage (localStorage, sessionStorage, and Cloudflare Turnstile cookies for security) and cookieless analytics (Umami Cloud), no consent banner or cookie consent manager is legally required.
Under Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC and § 89 of Czech Act No. 127/2005 Coll., strict cookies and storage that are not strictly necessary require prior informed consent. However, strictly necessary storage is exempt from this requirement.
The EntryLog app displays a brief informational notice: "We use cookies strictly necessary for login and security. Learn more → [Cookie Policy]". This is an informational notice, not a consent request, and does not require user interaction.
6. How to Control Storage on Your Device
6.1 localStorage and sessionStorage
You can clear localStorage and sessionStorage from your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → check "Cookies and other site data" → Clear data
- Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear All
- Safari: Develop → Empty Caches (or Safari → Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data)
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data → check "Cookies and other site data"
Clearing these will log you out of your EntryLog Account.
6.2 Cookies
You can control cookies in your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies and other site data
Blocking cookies may prevent the login and registration pages from functioning (Cloudflare Turnstile requires cookies for security verification).
6.3 Opting Out of Umami Analytics
To opt out of Umami Cloud analytics collection, you can set the do-not-track signal in your browser. Most browsers support this:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Do Not Track → enable
- Firefox: about:preferences → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
Alternatively, contact info@entrylog.eu to request manual opt-out.
7. Third-Party Links and Cookies
The EntryLog landing page may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., external partners, Stripe checkout pages). This Cookie Policy applies only to storage set by EntryLog-owned surfaces. Third-party websites have their own cookie and privacy policies, and you should review them before visiting.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
The Provider may update this policy to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or business practices. The current version, together with its version string and effective date, is published at entrylog.eu/legal/cookie-policy.
Purely editorial or clarifying changes take effect immediately. Material changes will be communicated to users as described in the Privacy Policy.
